About this curriculum

Through geography children will discover a sense of wonder about the world around them and the wider world.

They will learn how understanding the complexities of its world, appreciating the diversity of culture helps bridge divides and bring people together. They are given opportunities to make comparisons to other localities in order to help them widen their horizons.

They will learn how their environment impacts their lives living in Torbay and how their lives impact the immediate environment. Torbay is of a unique global significance being part of the UNESCO geopark and is surrounded by a natural bay and coastline. This will prepare students for future employment in the tourist industry within the local area.

At Cockington we recognise the importance of safeguarding the earth for future generations and understanding the impact this can have on Torbay and globally.  We must teach children to care for our world, commit to a sustainable future and develop global climate ambassadors with the knowledge that they can make a difference.

Year 5/6 Boys Football Cockington A 3-0 Shiphay A Goals: Finley Alfie C Jack POTM: Roman - Made some great saves and deserved his clean sheet, making sure we was still in the game. Last Thursday we hosted Shiphay in the first game of the new season. After defeating them 2-1 previously the boys looked to make it another win. The first half was very slow and the boys struggled, thanks to Roman making some great saves and some good blocks from Leo, we went into half time 0-0. We woke up second half and Finley grabbed another goal, coolly slotting between the keepers legs. Alfie grabbed the second in pretty much identical fashion. Finally Captain Jack scored a lovely solo goal. Good start to the season. Well done boys.
