About this curriculum

We hope to foster a life long love of music by exposing them to diverse musical experiences and igniting a passion for music.

By listening and responding to different musical styles, finding their voices as singers and performers and as composers, all will enable them to become confident, reflective musicians.

‘Music is a universal language that embodies one of the highest forms of creativity’

We are delighted to have been accepted to be part of the pilot of the new Partnerships for Inclusion of Neurodiversity in Schools (PINS) project. The school will be receiving 5 days of specialist support to develop our support for Neurodiversity. As part of the project, we are working with SEND Family Voice Torbay. Together we want to understand your experiences of our school and we are asking all parents to complete a short survey online.

Stone Age Day! Today year 3 enjoyed a day full of activities linked to our Stone Age learning. We carved spear heads out of soap, we created cave art under tables, on the walls and on pieces of driftwood, we created Stone Age animal 3D fact-files and we even lit our own fires! We apologise for the stench of smoke that came home with everyone today but we hope they also brought home some great moments to share with you 😊 More photos of Red Deer class to follow tomorrow! @connectacademytrust #stoneage #firelighting #makingmemories

20/5 In science club this week, the children tried their hands at Chromatography. Chromatography is a way of separating the colours used in ink (such as felt tipped pens). You might have noticed that ink smudges when you have got a piece of paper wet. The pattern left by the colours is called a ‘chromatogram’. Each colour is made of different inks, meaning they will have their own chromatogram.

17/6 During science club on Monday, the children explored the phenomenon of sound. They revisited how sound is formed and how it travels, then put their theories to the test using a range of exciting equipment, including test tubes filled with varying amounts of water, tuning forks and even made a 'telephone' using plastic cups and string - they were very inventive!

Today our Head and Deputy Head boys and girls represented us when they went to have their photo taken for the Herald newspaper. It was to mark the unveiling of the official plaque, naming the mosaic that Mrs Turner and Mrs Roberts worked on a while ago with children from school. The project was in conjunction with the local police. Look out for their photos in the paper!

Year 5 took to the skies today and made their dreams take flight during their very own STEM day! George from Soaring STEM shared his expertise with the children before setting them off with the challenge of testing, designing and building their very own rockets. Our set of young engineers rose to the challenge, demonstrated brilliant teamwork and their perseverance certainly paid off! Lots of fun, and lots of laughs, and lots of learning took place today! Thanks to Royal Air Force Youth Engagement Team for sponsoring our rocket challenge, what a brilliant day 🚀🌟

In tonight's final science club with Mrs Pidduck and Mrs Shepherd, the children explored the chemical reaction between a popular mint-flavoured sweet and fizzy pop! First, they made predictions as to which bottle of drink would interact the most when the sweets were added, by forming a 'human vote'. They then discussed possible reasons behind the phenomenon, including liquid displacement and acid versus alkaline interaction. Well done every single child who has attended this club for your excitement and enthusiasm every week -it's been a blast!
