Did you know, Torquay exists on an ancient fault line?
The Sticklepath Fault (or Sticklepath-Lustleigh fault) is a major geological fault line that runs through Devon and emerges in Torquay, particularly visible at the Rock Walk cliffs. Caused by earth movements around 300 million years ago, this strike-slip fault extends from North Devon across Dartmoor, and has caused occasional mild earthquakes in the area, with tremors felt as recently as the 1990s.
Our Year 6 pupils recently enjoyed an exciting and informative geography fieldwork trip to Torquay, where they explored the fascinating Sticklepath Fault Line. This hands-on experience brought their classroom learning to life, giving them the opportunity to observe real geological features, ask thoughtful questions, and deepen their understanding of how the Earth’s surface has changed over time. The weather held out for this fieldwork visit and they all had a great time!

Bikeability
Over the last couple of weeks, Years 3&4, and Years 5&6 have been learning how to keep safe on their bikes on and off the road. Despite the rain, they really enjoyed the experience and feel a lot more confident riding their bikes!

Y4 Super Smoothies!
In Year 4 this half term, they have been looking at how they can make healthy smoothies. They investigated different types and flavours of smoothies. They made their own for Y3 to try. They were delicious!

The children who came to Young Voices in Birmingham NEC were amazing! They were a credit to the school and their families and we are very proud of them. Over 6000 children performed in total and the atmosphere was electric. We loved joining children from the other schools in Connect Academy Trust and singing and dancing with them as well.

Thank you to McCarthy contractors who have donated some pallets, cable reels and pipes for us to use in our OPAL play. The children have already got great ideas for their use after they have been checked over by our caretaker Mr Coles.☑️
We are always after resources and equipment for our play, so if you think you can donate anything, please let us know. We are also hoping someone might be able to build us a pallet mud kitchen for our den area. If you think you might be able to help, then please get in touch!🔨
