📚 Rock Up and Read – Year 6 📚
Year 6 enjoyed a wonderful Rock Up and Read event last week! It was lovely to see parents, carers and family members join us at the end of the day to relax together and get lost in a good book in the hall.
A huge thank you to everyone who was able to come along and help create such a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Your support means so much to the children and to us!

Christmas started on Sunday when the Performing Arts Club performed a medley of Christmas songs at the Grand Hotel. They were amazing and a real credit to the school. They have a few more performances to go, including at the Mecure Hotel in Paignton on Saturday, so catch them if you can!

Once again, we are joining forces with Rowcroft to raise money for all of the amazing work they do in the local area, supporting those who need care.
We will be joining in with the Rudolph Run during the last week in school in December, wearing our festive reindeer antlers to help raise some money for this worthy cause. If you would like to make a donation, or find out more, please find a link to our page below.
Thank you very much for any donation you choose to give.

Our Digital Ambassadors had a fantastic day representing Cockington at a Lego robotics event at South Devon College with other Connect schools! 🌟
The team spent the morning exploring the Lego Education kits and programming their robot, before tackling the obstacle course in the afternoon. They showed brilliant perseverance and collaboration — two of our core values — and were awarded the Best Presented Award for their robot and teamwork! 🏆
Well done to our ambassadors for their creativity, enthusiasm and hard work! 🎉

We enjoyed dressing and spots and bright coloured clothing today to help to raise money for Children in Need.
The children completed a challenge set by the school council. The theme was '25'. The school council set each year group a challenge to complete 25 of an activity. Some classes managed this, some didn't because of the pouring rain outside! Nevertheless, everyone enjoyed raising money for a great cause!

Even though the rain and clouds meant no heading outside tonight, our Year 6 pupils still shone bright during their Stargazing Event! 💫
They explored the planets and their orbits, created stunning galaxy art, and discovered the many sides of the Moon! 🪐🎨
A huge thank you to the amazing members of Torbay Astronomical Society for giving up their time to share their stellar knowledge with us.🌟

We paid our respects today by remembering those who have given their lives for us. We respected the two minutes silence and some children created poppies during their drawing club after school. Thank you for all of your donations. They will all go to the Royal British Legion.

On Wednesday, Year 2 went on a school trip to London! Well...a virtual trip. We acted like a tube train and travelled around the school with our Oyster cards in hand. At each 'station', we scanned a QR code and watched a video showing a special landmark in London. This half term, we'll be learning about why London is such an important place.

What an incredible day our Year 5s had at Torquay Museum as they kicked off their new history topic!
The children were amazed to see a real mummified body named Psamtech, a 6-year-old boy from ancient Egypt!
As part of their learning, the children also had a go at writing their names in hieroglyphs and creating their own scarab beetles.
It was a fantastic hands-on day that really brought history to life - a perfect way to start our new topic!

Today, some Y6 representatives went to ASDA to help with the poppy appeal. They were such a credit to the school and were so polite to the members of the public.
